OR3: Critical Education Centre

CKO was founded out of a collective need to create spaces in which young people could meaningfully influence educational policies and, at the same time, directly intervene through alternative educational practices.

Our mission is to strengthen the role of young people in shaping educational policies and social change, while creating concrete spaces for critical learning and public engagement. We develop and promote critical pedagogy, feminist approaches and solutions in education, transitional justice initiatives, and climate justice frameworks, consistently linking theory with practice through workshops, publications, advocacy, and community-based programs.

Our vision is a democratic, inclusive, and socially just society in which education serves as a transformative force. We envision educational systems that foster critical thinking, equality, and active citizenship, and communities in which young people meaningfully influence public policies and cultural life.

Our approach is grounded in intersectionality, inspired by feminist thinkers such as bell hooks and Audre Lorde. We understand systems of oppression—such as patriarchy, racism, capitalism, heteronormativity, and environmental exploitation—as interconnected and mutually reinforcing. Therefore, our programs are designed to address overlapping forms of inequality and to center the voices of those most affected by structural injustice.
